La Soñadora Insomne One of my favorite Dark Ambient albums of all time. No matter how much I listen to this, I never get tired. I love the mix of Gregorian chants and the industrial sounds in each song, all of this highlighted by the cover of this album, which is "Abtei im Eichwald" from Caspar David Friedrich, which also matches the dark sacral atmosphere. Favorite track: Anathema / Apotheosis.
This Is Darkness

This Is Darkness While raison d’etre didn’t form a genre with this album, he did succeed in bringing a more peaceful, while simultaneously eerie and irreligious release to the forefront of the CMI scene. The sense of beauty within the darkness cannot be overstated. One gets a feeling of religious nostalgia, simultaneously with a sense of the corruption on the part of Christianity.

Jordan Vauvert

Favorite track: Ordeal in Chapel.
